So what is The Complete Bible Overview – Part 2 all about?

In The Complete Bible Overview – Part 2 we follow God’s story of redemption through the formation, split and promises for the nation of Israel. We see how the Abrahamic and Mosaic Covenants lead to the Davidic and New Covenants which ultimately culminate in the arrival of the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. In this part we see the rise of an extremely important group of individuals: the Prophets, and how they are central to God’s Plan of redemption.

Q&A with Pastor Bodie about The Complete Bible Overview - Part 1

Do I Need To Go Through Part 1 Before Taking Part 2?

Even though Part 1 is very long, it will be really helpful to have gone through Part 1 before starting Part 2. That said, it is not mandatory. You can get a lot out of Part 2 without having gone through Part 1, though there will be some things you will have missed out on.

I would recommend starting where you want to learn most and work from there. You can always go backwards and jump around in the course.

Why Did You Create this Course?

When I became I Christian, I fell in love with the Bible. I loved its eternal truth, intrinsic beauty and life-changing encounter it gives you with the person of Jesus Christ.

However, as I continued to grow, I realized that I didn't really understand the Bible as a whole, I just understood some pieces. Not wanting to take the Scriptures out of context or derive the wrong meaning, I really wanted to understand the Bible as a whole.

That was when I discovered Greg Koukl's The Bible Fast Forward teaching series from Stand to Reason. This was a life-changing course for me. I had no idea how all of these pieces fit together and how the covenants were central to the development of the biblical storyline. In short, it literally changed my entire view of the Bible. I am forever grateful for this resource.

The bummer about it, though, its that it stops at Jesus. There is no development of the early church and the writing of the New Testament. I wanted a course that took all of the amazing insights offered by Greg Koukl in The Bible Fast Forward but covered the whole Bible. And, I wanted to do it visually, with maps and timelines to help.

The Complete Bible Overview is the result of that desire and I pray that it has the same helpful, eye-opening effect for others that The Bible Fast Forward had for me.

How Much Do I Need To Know About The Bible To Take This Course?

Beginners welcome!

Since this entire course is designed to be overview in nature, I want people to be able to jump in and out of it however they wish. I also want people to be able to see the titles of the lessons and learn the main ideas of a topic, even if they haven't studied it before.

In short, if you know nothing about the Bible, after this course you will have a solid grasp of its storyline, major themes and emphases. I want it to be a foundation for people to understand the structure of the entire Bible so they can jump into it and know how any part relates to the rest.

How come all of the lessons don't have notes?

When I created this course and taught it at my church, I put the priority on creating the Teaching slides and then creating the tutorial videos for people to have as review. I didn't create any notes for any of these lessons.

As I started to build YouCanLearntheBible.com, I realized that it would be nice to have a notes component to the lessons, but that meant that I would have to go back and write notes that I had never created. I decided that even though it would be me more work on courses I had already finished, I thought it was the right call.

So I am slowly working on adding notes to these lessons now, and eventually they will have have lesson notes.
